Guess "come with me if you want to live" takes on a whole new meaning.

Hmmm....although most of the 'connections' manage to hold their own there is one thing I have to disagree with. John Connor is the catalyst that causes the Human Resistance to form, and becomes its very successful leader. It's highly probable that if he were to be removed from the time line the machines would've destroyed humanity before they ever needed to create more than the first couple of designs in their Terminator line, if they ever needed to create them. As such, in conclusion he was a child who needed to be born. Now, I haven't seen the first Terminator movie (a weird trait of mine, if I've seen/read the sequel first I almost never get around to the first, hell I still haven't finished reading the first few books of Piers Anthony's Apprentice Adept series, and I read the last two over a decade ago, I just can't find the earlier ones interesting enough to read because of how they were referenced in the later ones), so I can't say if Sarah would've opted for an abortion without the knowledge of the future or not, let alone actually raised him. With the results of her efforts at raising him (or at least as much as she got to do around being in an asylum) I would say that she was (taking into account a fictional setting) probably one of the more successful and capable single parents out there, whether a single mother or father.
